Exhibition Never Fully Seen by Basse Stittgen In celebration of our community, we invite you to get acquainted with the space and its residents. iso will open their doors for a special 3-day long isOpen Studios alongside the exhibition by Basse Stittgen, taking place from the 16th to the 18th of September. Basse Stittgen's "Never Fully Seen" is an exhibition of objects made out of 100% discarded animal blood with no additives. By utilizing this invisible waste and by-product in his designs, his work becomes intertwined into a complex conversation of how we relate to industrial animal farming. Stittgen aims to mend the disconnect we have as consumers towards the slaughterhouse industry by offering his work as a platform for reflecting on human-to-animal relationships through physicalizing this often-unseen matter. As such, the objects play on contrasting associations we have towards blood - from the social taboos surrounding it to the ethical implications of meat consumption, or blood as a dichotomous signifier of both life and death, and the mythical meaning arising from fusing these two worlds together. Stittgen’s work is, therefore, positioned at the intersection of design, art and material research. It stems from a fascination for material, how it can be created, applied, used / re-used and questioned. Basse Stittgen graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2017. Since then his work has been exhibited at the V&A Museum, the NGV Melbourne and the 13th Shanghai Biennale of Architecture, and is part of the collection of the MAK Vienna and the Wellcome Collection. The exhibition is supported by Stimuleringsfonds IsOpen Studios Explore over thirty individual and shared ateliers; the intimate workspaces of a multitude of creative professionals operating within an expansive range of disciplines: industrial, product and furniture design, technology, architecture, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, performance, video, printmaking, graphic design, music, fashion and instrument making.  With Maarten Nico, Lino Thijssen, Job Althof, Niek Sanders, Juan Bravo, Gwion Lopez, Johe van Der One, Isabel Cordeiro, François Duquesnoy, Arno Hoogland, Roel de Boer, Dorian Jakob Koelmans, Basse Stittgen, Fabrizzia de Toni, Aurélien Lepetit, Hans Rosenboom, Laura A.
