We are a design studio for experimental textile techniques, focusing on designs which elevate textile beyond the traditional applications. Our specialization lies in the design and development of textiles for acoustic improvement. Our product PLECTERE acoustic textile design offers a range of sound-absorbing acoustic products to improve productivity, flexibility and overall well being for a pleasant and unique work environment.
Studio Makkink & Bey shows the installation GLASS-works Matter, a concept for Circulair Warenhuis that saves countless glasses that would otherwise be thrown away. The glasses, which together hold 70 liters - the amount of water in Jurgen Bey's body - are engraved with refined drawings of organs from the body. Together with a matching embroidered tablecloth, it depicts the ingredients of a human body.
