Bernotat&Co is a Dutch-German design studio, run by Anke Bernotat (the German one) and Jan Jacob Borstlap (the Dutch one). Together they design, develop, curate and manage local as well as international design projects and exhibitions. The designers work on all scales and in all disciplines: exhibition architecture, product design, graphic design, illustration, art direction and so on.
Bernotat&Co shows an installation of our Radiolaria, a family of eleven lamps made of 3D-knitted textile inspired by the phenomenon of bioluminescence and the microscopic organisms discovered by German scientist Ernst Haeckel. When the light is switched off, the Radiolaria leave a mysterious green afterglow. Are they bacteria? Plancton? Plant seeds? Or maybe planets?
